Electric BMW Will Be Priced Lower Than Electric Opel

Buying BMW i3 will be cheaper than buying Opel Ampera

German car manufacturer BMW has interesting plans for the pricing of its new electric vozila.Popularni automaker plans to begin offering its electric BMW I3 model, which will be released on the market in 2013 at a very competitive retail prices. It was reported by chief Norbert Reithofer BMW.

so it looks as though BMW i3, will be slightly cheaper than you'd expect from this German car. This is an interview with German magazine (Handelsblatt) that BMW boss Norbert Reithofer reveiled that the car will be available for less than € 40,000 in the German market.

This would be considerably cheaper than the Opel Ampera, competing electric car that can be currently bought for € 44,500 on the market. Since the BPM does not have to be paid to an electric vehicle in the Netherlands, the price of the Dutch car market will be very similar to the car's price in Germany.

At this point, however, the correct price setting for the other European car markets have not been announced. It will be some time before prices and / or disclose information for the U.S. market will be released.

As the car manufacturer BMW are able to offer its electric vehicle in such a competitive price?

In Europe, the car brand BMW is known as a prestigious and luxurious. That does not make a habit of competing on price. Furthermore, BMW i3 is expected to be much more expensive due to large amounts of carbon fibers that are processed in electric vehicles. So, how is the car manufacturer able to offer its electric vehicles at a lower cost of Opel Ampera?

Well, the manufacturer has decided to set up a new plant for carbon fiber in the American town of Moses Lake and the production-model car manufacturer BMW. Until now, carbon fibers are mostly handmade, which revved up prices significantly. These fibers are produced in the United States, after which they are further processed in Germany. Finally, the materials into a CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) in the BMW factories.

With factories in America, carbon fiber production costs as much as BMW does not manufacture aluminum. That is why the automaker is able to launch its electric cars in this highly competitive prices. But we'll have to wait for the release to see how BMW customers will react to the vehicle and lower the price.
