New Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Black Series Flexes its Muscles on the Laguna Seca Circuit

The sinister beast that is the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series is the kind of car that is arguably best enjoyed in its natural habitat, which is none other than the racetrack.

To prove this, the German firm took the most powerful production version of its C-Class Coupe to the Laguna Seca circuit in California for some quick laps and shared the video with us.

Keep on Burning: Mika Häkkinen and Jenson Button Burn Their Initials on the Ashpalt with a C63 AMG

It's a strange cocktail to say the least: two of the world's finest professional drivers, two-time F1 champion Mika Häkkinen and 2009 F1 champ Jenson Button, get into a 450-horsepower Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sports saloon to promote a 'don't drink and drive' campaign from renowned Scotch whiskey brand Johnny Walker by burning their initials on the asphalt.

Mercedes F1 Team Changes Name, Brings AMG into the Game

Mercedes-Benz announced that its Formula 1 team, which raced under the Mercedes GP Petronas moniker this year, is changing its name to “Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team” from the 2012 season.

Up until now, AMG has been the three-pointed star’s in-house performance division, developing the sportiest versions of its production models like the SLK and the C-Class and, of course, the SLS AMG supercar.

While based on a different platform than the upcoming A25 AMG, spy shots of which we showed you back in August, the two models will share the same powertrain setup that includes a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine delivering somewhere around 300 ponies and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
