Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Vroom! Scuderia Ferrari Sends Christmas Greetings

It’s the most wonderful time of the year - a year which certainly does not rank among those that the Scuderia Ferrari and its tifosi will consider worthy of the Prancing Horse’s history in Formula 1, having scored only one win and finishing third in the championship.

However, the people from Ferrari’s racing division seem to have been touched by the Christmas spirit, so they put their disappointment aside and had a little fun at work.

“Porsche Returns to Le Mans” Promo Video Takes us Back

Porsche is inextricably linked to Le Mans having won the famous 24-hour endurance race a record 16 times. The first win came in 1970 with the legendary 917, and the last in 1998 with the 911 GT1.

This past July, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer announced that it will return to the La Sarthe circuit in 2014 with an official entry. Not that it has ever actually left, as numerous privately owned 911s participated each year and even the factory team won the LMP2 class in 2008 and 2009 with the RS Spyder.

Porsche Approves Further Development of 911 GT3 R Hybrid Racer

So far, Porsche has manufactured two hybrid versions of its 911 GT3 R racer. The first one was revealed at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and it featured two electric motors powered not by a battery pack, as in most hybrids, but by an electric flywheel generator located in the passenger’s seat.

In typical Porsche fashion, the “Version 2.0” of the GT3 R Hybrid was a careful evolution of the previous model, with more power and better fuel consumption while also featuring subtle changes to the cockpit to ensure less driver fatigue in endurance racers.

If you feel the same way, then you'll probably enjoy the video that follows and which comes to us courtesy of German car magazine Sport Auto. The publication took Lamborghini's flagship model over to the Hockenheim circuit in Germany to see how fast it is.

Ferrari’s head of communication, Luca Colajanni, told Italian publication Autosprint that the 2012 car, upon which the Scuderia has focused its resources since August, will be revealed at the first official test of the new season on February 7 at Jerez racetrack in Spain.

Rhys Millen Steals Genesis Coupe Drift Car in a Ford F-150 from Hyundai Headquarters [Video]

Hyundai's creative division has come up with a driftaluscious short film starring Rhys Millen, his Genesis Coupe racecar and the company's soon to be demolished, old Hyundai Motor America headquarters building in Fountain Valley, California.

The South Korean carmaker tells us that the idea for the movie actually came from one of its Service Technicians, Dustin Loranger, who posed the question:

"Why not put Rhys Millen, his Genesis Coupe drift car, and our abandoned HQ together for a unique drift demonstration in a unique industrial setting?"

If you're wondering about the outcome, hop over the break to watch the 5-minute long video.

Ferrari 458 Italia Challenges a Koenigsegg Agera R - Video

When your ride packs a high-revving, 570HP V8 matched to a dual-clutch transmission for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph) then you’re inclined to believe that you're the king of the road. But as fast as your ride may be, there will always be something faster. And as the owner of a Ferrari 458 Italia found out, the Koenigsegg Agera R that was launched earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show is one of them.
This is not surprising given that, on paper, it smokes the Italia, sprinting from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds thanks to the 1115HP courtesy of its 5.0-liter V8.
Of course, with a price tag in excess of $US 1.4 million, the Agera R makes the 458 look like a bargain…
Scroll down to watch the duel.

New Scion FR-S Filmed Drifting on the Track and at the Cars & Coffee Meet in California

A lot of people are eager to get some time behind the steering wheel of one of the triples that was born from the joint venture between Toyota and Subaru, but in the meantime, the Scion FR-S is making several appearances on the track as well as on the streets.

We stumbled upon two new videos featuring the Scion-badged version of the Toyota 86, the most interesting of which shows the rear-wheel drive coupe drifting on the track.

The second clip is from a recent presentation of the FR-S at a Cars and Coffee meeting in Irvine, California. What's special about this FR-S is that it is equipped with a Greddy sports exhaust system. You can check both videos for yourself right after the break.

We can't be 100 percent certain that this Corvette C6 ZR1 modded by the crew over at 'Late Model Racecraft' is indeed the quickest ZR1 in the world as claimed by its builder, but after watching it run the quarter mile in just 9.68 seconds with an exit speed of 147mph [237km/h], we have no doubt that it's blazing fast. Formula 1: Sauber is Third Team to Leave FOTA, Toro Rosso to Follow?

A spokeswoman for the Sauber Formula 1 team has confirmed to ESPN that it has sent a letter to the Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA), informing them that it will no longer be part of it.

The move makes Sauber the third team after Red Bull and Ferrari to leave FOTA which, ironically, was formed on July 2008 in a meeting in Maranello in order for the F1 teams to present a unified stance in talks with FIA and the Bernie Ecclestone-owned Formula One Group that owns F1’s commercial rights.

Formula 1: U.S. Austin Race in Texas Makes the Cut, will be Included in 2012 Calendar

Formula 1: U.S. Austin Race in Texas Makes the Cut, will be Included in 2012 Calendar

What Bernie Ecclestone wants, Bernie Ecclestone gets. This dictum has been proved repeatedly in Formula 1 as the British businessperson, despite beings 81 years of age, remains the man who pulls the string in F1. Ecclestone wanted Formula 1 to return to the United States. His first attempt, a few years back, at the Indianapolis circuit was short-lived. The U.S. is very important to Ecclestone though, so he signed a deal with the Circuits of America for a race to be held in 2012 at a new track in Austin, Texas.
The inclusion of the race in the 2012 F1 calendar was in doubt until the last moment, due to financing problems faced by the organizers. Ecclestone issued an ultimatum, which he extended until today’s World Motor Sport Council meeting.
As it turns out, the calendar remains unchanged, which means that the 10-year deal remains in place and the Austin race will take place as originally planned.
Red McCombs, chairman of McCombs Enterprises and founding partner of the Circuit of Americas, said: “Mr. Ecclestone received his check today. We want to thank the fans supporting us, the local officials and businesses that have encouraged us, the State of Texas, Circuit of America’s staff and Bernie himself.”
