Ferrari 458 Italia Challenges a Koenigsegg Agera R - Video

When your ride packs a high-revving, 570HP V8 matched to a dual-clutch transmission for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph) then you’re inclined to believe that you're the king of the road. But as fast as your ride may be, there will always be something faster. And as the owner of a Ferrari 458 Italia found out, the Koenigsegg Agera R that was launched earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show is one of them.
This is not surprising given that, on paper, it smokes the Italia, sprinting from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds thanks to the 1115HP courtesy of its 5.0-liter V8.
Of course, with a price tag in excess of $US 1.4 million, the Agera R makes the 458 look like a bargain…

2012 Koenigsegg Agera R

As in all previous Koenigsegg hypercars, the new Koenigsegg Agera R is the brainchild of Christian von Koenigsegg. Koenigsegg Agera R has come to life again, in order to set new standards in Hypercars when it comes to control, handling, speed, comfort, practicality and driving pleasure, while the combination of these features clean, efficient and beautiful design.





Interior of the Koenigsegg Agera R is like no other car. There were no other substances than equal to the Koenigsegg is allowed in the interior. This means that what you get in touch and see inside Agera R is the only aluminum, carbon fiber, precious metals, alcantara and aniline leather. All of the switches is very tailored and has a wonderfully unique solutions, such as the Koenigsegg Ghost Light, that make solid aluminium buttons gleam with LED powered symbols appearing out of nowhere. To give an example Koenigsegg V8 engine 5-liter twin-turbo develops over 900 hp on 95 octane regular fuel, and over 1100 hp on E85 bio fuel. The Agera produces over 1000 Nm of torque from 2500 rpm and in the Koenigsegg Agera R format the engine has a peak torque of 1200 Nm over a 3300 rpm rev range, showing great flexibility.






Regardless of the type of car, the same amount of potential compared to its EU cycle average CO2 emission(310g of CO2) or cycle fuel consumption( 14,7 litre per 100 km / 16MPG). Koenigsegg Agera R engine meets the highest standards of environment in the world, LEV2 and EU5, and offers a significant power increase in the previous Koenigsegg engines.






The Koenigsegg has teamed up with Borg Warner and adapted to the technology when it comes to materials of the turbine. Koenigsegg Agera R turbine are made of a material called Gamma-Ti is a metallic compound comprising between aluminum and titanium. This new material greatly reduces the inertia of the turbine wheel and shaft and therefore gives a better response.






Koenigsegg Agera R is equipped with the latest ABS technology is based on a very lightweight and performance oriented, racing ABS. The system allows the ABS function to respond differently depending on the mode of performance. In addition, anti-lock brake system operates on massive 392 × 36 mm and 380 x 34 mm ventilated and drilled ceramic discs, for greater stopping power and zero fade condition either track or road.
